What has God's Mercy got to do with it?

- With Love from Natasha Ferguson :)

Jesus said, "My kingdom is not of this world." John 18:36

In Matthew 4:17 We See Jesus preach, to "Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is near."

To Repent means to have a “change of mind” Jesus wanted men to realize God’s way and to walk in it; To make an active decision to walk in the right way and follow Him.

Jesus came to teach man a love like no other, and in His whole life, He never said “I Love you” words come easy and actions reveal the truth.

But God, who is rich in mercy , because of His great love with which He loved us, even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved), and raised us up together, and made us sit together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, that in the ages to come He might show the exceeding riches of His grace in His kindness toward us in Christ Jesus." Ephesians 2:4-7

Jesus brought the kingdom of heaven to earth, when Jesus said that the kingdom of heaven was at hand, He meant, near, now and you cannot enter into His kingdom when you are looking back in your past, and stuck in the guilt of yesterday’s mistakes.

"He has delivered us from the power of darkness and conveyed us into the kingdom of the Son of His love, in whom we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins." Colossians 1:13

Faith is actively in the moment, the kingdom of God has been revealed to you.

"For indeed, the kingdom of God is 'within you." Luke 17:20

We enter into the kingdom through the Love of God. When you become a Christian your spirit is made new and you enter into a new Kingdom spiritually, - a rightful place that belongs to you. – You have been born again and you are a child of God – I peter 1 :23 “Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever.”

Just as you received a citizenship in heaven as a believer of your salvation;- You maintain it the same.

The bible tells us that It is by Faith that you are saved, not of your works of righteousness lest any man should boast; But through the precious blood Grace and Love of Jesus.
For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: [it is] the gift of God:- Ephesians 2:8-9kjv

"Jesus called a little child to Him, set him in the midst of them, and said, 'Assuredly, I say to you, unless you are converted and become as little children, you will by no means enter the kingdom of heaven. Therefore whoever humbles himself as this little child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven. Whoever receives one little child like this in My name receives Me." Matthew 18:1-5

In Matthew 23:13 – We read as Jesus Speaks out seven woes to the righteous leaders and Pharisees.

He said Woe, to you teachers of the law and Pharisees, YOU hypocrites’ You shut kingdom of heaven in men’s faces, you yourself do not enter, nor will you let those enter who are trying to.

It was so hard for the religious leaders to receive the love and the goodness of God.

It was so hard for them to enter into this new covenant of Love that was on display and being walked out by Jesus.

Their ideas about being right with God, were through keeping the law.

Through Moses- God gave man the law and revealed His standards. - Without the law there is no revelation of Christ and the need for a savior.

The religious leaders and Pharisees “Worked” day and night to be good enough for God.

It was an offensive concept that their works and hard efforts were not working; - God had a perfect structure- and He sent His son to up hold the law, but most importantly to fulfil the law

. For God so loved the world that He sent His only begotten son that whosoever believes in Him will not perish but have eternal Life.

To be loved beyond condition, True agape' love is shown endlessly through God’s Mercy.

Jesus said that He did not come to abolish the law but to uphold and fulfil the law.
The Pharisees and the teachers of the law had a hard time accepting the righteousness of God through Christ Jesus.

Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfil them. I tell you the truth, until heaven and earth disappear, not the smallest letter, not the least stroke of a pen; will by any means disappear from the Law until everything is accomplished. Anyone who breaks one of the least of these commandments and teaches others to do the same will be called least in the kingdom of heaven,( not thrown out) but whoever practices and teaches these commands will be called great in the kingdom of heaven. For I tell you that unless your righteousness surpasses that of the Pharisees and the teachers of the law, you will certainly not enter the kingdom of heaven." Matt 5:17-20

The word mercy means according to the Collins dictionary, - refraining from infliction of suffering by the one, who has right, - power to inflict it. In the thesaurus it says Mercy, is compassion, favor, forbearance, forgiveness, grace, kindness, and pity

If I were to pick one word from among them that are listed I see, forgiveness and I hear the promise of Jesus, when Peter, one of Jesus the disciples asked how many times they should forgive someone of their sins.

And Jesus shares a story that shadows kingdom forgiveness.

The Parable of the Unmerciful Servant

21Then Peter came to Jesus and asked, "Lord, how many times shall I forgive my brother when he sins against me? Up to seven times?"

22Jesus answered, "I tell you, not seven times, but seventy-seven times.[a]

23"Therefore, the kingdom of heaven is like a king who wanted to settle accounts with his servants. 24As he began the settlement, a man who owed him ten thousand talents[b] was brought to him. 25Since he was not able to pay, the master ordered that he and his wife and his children and all that he had be sold to repay the debt.

26"The servant fell on his knees before him. 'Be patient with me,' he begged, 'and I will pay back everything.' 27The servant's master took pity on him, canceled the debt and let him go.

28"But when that servant went out, he found one of his fellow servants who owed him a hundred denarii.[c] He grabbed him and began to choke him. 'Pay back what you owe me!' he demanded.

29"His fellow servant fell to his knees and begged him, 'Be patient with me, and I will pay you back.'

30"But he refused. Instead, he went off and had the man thrown into prison until he could pay the debt. 31When the other servants saw what had happened, they were greatly distressed and went and told their master everything that had happened.

32"Then the master called the servant in. 'You wicked servant,' he said, 'I canceled all that debt of yours because you begged me to. 33Shouldn't you have had mercy on your fellow servant just as I had on you?' 34In anger his master turned him over to the jailers to be tortured, until he should pay back all he owed.

In the bible David had committed great sins and through Gods love and Mercy- IN THE OLD COVENANT, - God forgave him.

Let me pose the question- Under the new covenant, - Is Gods Love, Grace and Mercy enough to cover your sins, -Was His blood enough? Are His Love, Mercy Kindness, and compassion freeing you from the sins in your life?

Though your spirit is saved, you still live in a natural body, which is in its fallen state. When you fall, don’t stay in sin; pick yourself up in His grace.

– What is this got to do with Mercy? UNDERSTANDING Matthew 23 :23

If we look in Matthew 23:23- 24 Where Jesus warning the Pharisees and religious leaders With 7 woes, we can see where so many get it wrong in criticizing each other “to be like Jesus”

To be like Jesus and follow after Him, is to walk in Love, Because He is love.

- 1John 4:8

"Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You give a tenth of your spices—mint, dill and cummin. But you have neglected the more important matters of the law—justice, mercy and faithfulness. You should have practiced the latter, without neglecting the former. 24You blind guides! You strain out a gnat but swallow a camel. Matt 23:2 3

The religious leaders considered the law more relevant than the love, grace and mercy that Jesus was showing
we know that Jesus tells us is to uphold the law, though his love grace and mercy if you are sitting there reading with your bible and you turn to Matthew 22:3740, we see

37Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.

38This is the first and great commandment.

39And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself.

40 On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.

Very important ingredients.Truth- Justice- MERCY and faithfulness, without love there is no mercy and forgiveness of sins.

Love covers a multitude of sins –“Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins.”1 peter 4:8
It is the love of God that leads men to repentance, (not the critical brothers with big pointy fingers- Romans 2 :4)

If sin had a measure there would be no sin greater than implying that God’s love, Jesus blood,Mercy and forgivness wasn’t, or isn't enough.

Religion makes salvation works and places conditions on God; religous leaders become hypocrites when they become “sin conscious” rather than God conscious.

The law that God gave Moses was through God’s commandments to show God’s standards and to set for man moral.

Jesus came with two commandments, that govern the law and fulfil the law –

■Love the lord your God with all your heart and
■Love your neighbor as your self. -Mathew 22:37- 40
■Two words that my husband pointed out are the same, and they are both LOVE

Finally something interesting for future study, I notice if you look at Matthew 23:29 to say 24 and compare what it says to Matthew 22:40- (interesting)

For the true prophets speak of the love of God – Why resist the love of God, What purpose does this achieve to persecute them for the truth that they speak of?

What a Catch!

‘I will make you fishers of men if you follow me.”

We have all heard this scripture at some stage or another. At face value, it sounds straight forward. Understand though, that Jesus was not so straight forward. When he told parables his own disciples sometimes struggled to understand the meaning of his stories. Therefore, as we read scriptures in the bible, we really need to broaden our horizon and think, meditate, dwell and contemplate on the scriptures. This will give you a much deeper understanding.

These men had spent most of their life in boats fishing for fish. They were the “experts” in their field. Jesus came over to the shore, stood in Simon’s boat and taught the people that were on the shore about the kingdom of God.
Simon realised from what he heard, that Jesus was a teacher.
Even with all their experience and knowledge, when Jesus told them to go out again, despite their reservations they went out.
It is important to understand that they did have reservations. They had fished all night without catching one fish.

How amazed were these men when Jesus told them to drop the nets, and after a short time, the nets became so full that their boats were almost sinking.

It was at this point that Jesus told Simon that he would be catching men.

In this story, Jesus was highlighting two very important aspects of His ministry.
The first aspect was that there are things that are seen with the natural eyes and secondly there are things that take place that are unseen.

The fishermen, had spent the night fishing and had not seen with their eyes any fish. Because they had not seen any fish, they immediately came to the conclusion, that there were no fish around. Jesus worked the opposite. He said that there were fish out their. When the fishermen went out and caught probably the biggest catch they had ever had, they were astonished. Here we have a different kind of reality. Jesus saw the fish out there in the water before they were caught. It took faith to believe that the fish were there even though no one had even seen a fish. It then took faith in action to go out and get those fish.
Jesus is teaching a profound truth.

We, as believers, need to ask God to open our eyes in the unseen realm which we call the spiritual realm so we can see where people are hurting and meet people where they are at. This will enable us to reach out to the hearts of people and win them into the kingdom of God.
Sometimes people’s needs are very obvious and we have both the ability and the authority in Jesus name to meet those obvious needs.

Jesus will make us fishers of men when we spend time in His word, praising Him and listening to the voice of the Holy Spirit, which will give us the advantage of seeing in both the seen and the unseen of this world.

Press into God so that you too can be an effective fisher of men.

ALL CALLED TO PROCLAIM!!

Every now and again, you might find yourself sitting in your chair thinking to your self that you don’t know what God wants you to do. You may not even think that you have anything to offer;- if this thought has popped into your mind once or twice before, I want to say to you think again.
Everyone has something to offer!
God made you to be special; He designed you to bring Glory to Him.
You have been anointed by God to tell the world about Jesus, and share him with people wherever you are and in whatever you do.You have been commissioned by God to go into all the world and make disciples of all nations.

Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, Matthew 28:19
And so it is our job as believers to encourage and to challenge each other in the word to be disciplined and doers of the word.

Now you may say to yourself, “I am not qualified” or “I wouldn’t know what to say”
and I think that’s fantastic!!-
You may wonder to your self, “What does he mean by that?

If you knew it all and always knew what to say, then when would you need to rely on God?- never.

It is not about knowing it all.

I once listened to a sermon that was given to me about Jesus the Rabbi.
Keep in mind that the Hebrew word for rabbi means teacher?
The preacher talked about the intense training and educating that Jesus would have gone through to get to a position where he could be referred to or recognized as rabbi “teacher”

My first response when I heard this was that it did not seem correct, I was sure that Jesus was simply seen and addressed to as rabbi (Teacher) because of what he taught and not by what he had learnt at any elite training centre.
John 7:14-18 (N K J V)
14 Now about the middle of the feast Jesus went up into the temple and taught. 15 And the Jews marveled, saying, “How does this Man know letters, having never studied?” 16 Jesus[a] answered them and said, “My doctrine is not Mine, but His who sent Me. 17 If anyone wills to do His will, he shall know concerning the doctrine, whether it is from God or whether I speak on My own authority. 18 He who speaks from himself seeks his own glory; but He who seeks the glory of the One who sent Him is true, and no unrighteousness is in Him.

Jesus was a teacher, Before Jesus set out on his three year ministry he was a carpenter, just like Joseph, his earthly father. As all boys, Jesus learnt about the Jewish traditions and customs. He learnt to recite portions of scripture but we have no evidence that is scripturally sound that supports that Jesus learnt and was qualified by man to be a Rabbi, So How did he become so wise?
Looking at this scripture in John we see that the Jews marvelled at what Jesus was teaching, they themselves knew that Jesus had never studied.-v16.

We see that Jesus responded by telling them that his doctrine is not his own, but his who sent him.
When you read carefully and meditate on V17. Jesus says that if anyone desires to do God’s will he will know concerning the doctrine of spiritual authority and will speak for Gods Glory, and no unrighteousness is in him.

Jesus ministry started when he was baptised, the Holy Spirit came upon him and anointed him with power. Acts 10 :38 tells us “How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him.
So what qualifies you to stand up and take the good news to the world?

JESUS DOES!

I tell you the truth. It is to your advantage that I go away; for if I do not go away, the Helper will not come to you; but if I depart, I will send Him to you. JOHN 16:7 NKJ

"But when the Helper comes, whom I shall send to you from the Father, the Spirit of truth who proceeds from the Father, He will testify of Me. JOHN 15:26 NKJ

The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God, ROMANS 8:16 NKJ

".. when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you . . . . JOHN 16:13 NKJ
“..the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things . . . JOHN 14:26 NKJ -.. the Helper, the Holy Spirit, . . . He will . . . bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you.

"But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth." ACTS 1:8 NKJ

Mark 16:15 15 ”He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the good news to all creation.”

LIVING WITH A PASSION FOR CHRIST
- Natasha Ferguson

James 1:22 tells us to be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.

Did you realise that your innermost thoughts and convictions on what you believe can be deceiving to you?
You can be living week to week doing, and living, in your MIND when really, in truth you will find yourself having done nothing and not really living at all.

We often see a whole other perspective and point of view when we step out and start living what we truly believe.
Not one person is perfect but I want to raise the question as I do with my self, “ am I” and “are you” really earnestly, truthfully and whole heartedly Living for Jesus.

God is ALWAYS waiting for us, to pray, to read His word, to worship, and to spend time meditating and simply LIVING with LIFE overflowing in Him.There is LIFE and POWER in Him, with your name on it and the Lord is yearning to overflow His presence on you.

How much time do you spend with God? How is your relationship with Him? Are you truly passionate for God?

I believe that God wants to light a fire with His words in the hearts of many believers that with lead them to live their lives in truth with their eyes through faith, living with His love and His life, with His passion for eternity.

Within the word of God are containers of LIFE AND THE POWER that are released as we truly hear, see, speak and live, the word.

Mathew 11:15 says “He who has ears to hear, let him hear. “ :) we read this about thirteen times in the bible.
I like what I once read, “there is a reason that we have two ears and one mouth”  we need to spend more time listening and spending time daily in the word as the mouth is one powerful instrument that can start a fire. (James 5:3)

When we truly learn to rest and flow in His spirit we connect our spirit with Him and there is so much life and spiritual fruit to be found in our lives from God.

We see in John 15:5 Jesus said “I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.

DON’T BE DECIEVED!

For the word of God is alive and powerful. It is sharper than the sharpest two-edged sword, cutting between soul and spirit, between joint and marrow. It exposes our innermost thoughts and desires.
HEBREWS 4 :12 nlt

We read in the first chapter of Genesis that before the creation of this world and the creation of man, God’s spirit has been on the earth and the word has always been with God. The word manifested many times throughout the bible but God became personal when He manifested the word as a saviour, the word seen, as Jesus.

When Jesus ascended into heaven He left this spirit and the message of His word with man, the word that we can daily come to live in (THE BIBLE!!  ), it is power, a tower of strength and a solid rock for man to fall on, stand up in, find grace, peace, forgiveness and Love for whatever we need!
Amen! Thank-you God and Thankyou Jesus!!!

God’s spirit that rose Jesus from the dead, lives with us, on the earth, He lives in our heart and His power personally longs to manifest daily in our lives.

If just one tiny smile can brighten up some ones day, How much more can the Holy spirit’s power within you change worlds around you as you daily live and walk with and in the word (Jesus).

Are we striving daily to live and walk out what we truly believe in our hearts?

Are you daily spending time in God’s word, to the extent where in His mercy we find and overflow of His Love and Grace, that compels and calls us to obedience; to share the truth and the power that has been given to us?

His presence will bee seen and his power can only be seen as truth through the eyes of Faith, Hope and Love when we are daily living and resting in and on the truth of His word.
